Burton Cummings

Burton Cummings, former lead singer of the Guess Who, will play Steinbach's Annual Summer in the City Festival.

Just announced, former lead singer of the Guess Who, Burton Cummings, is set to play the Prudential Main Stage, Saturday June 16th, 2012 at Steinbach’s Annual Summer in the City Festival.

Cindi Rempel Patrick, Stage and Production committee chair, along with the rest of the Summer in the City Festival committee, made the announcement, this morning. Rempel Patrick says she realized how huge Burton Cummings was when she attended the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, “there were people from every country in the crowd that night – and they all knew the words to every song. We often don’t appreciate the talent we have in our own backyard, but it was humbling to see the fans in Vancouver so in love with his music.”

Tickets are priced at only $40 each or $65 for VIP and expected to sell quickly. The Festival Committee is excited to finally be able to release the news, after many months of planning. Burton and the Burton Cummings Band follow on the heels of other Canadian greats: Tom Cochrane, Loverboy and Trooper.

Back in December, the committee announced Doc Walker as the Friday night headliner. Details on ticket outlet locations for both concerts will be released soon. Burton Cummings and the Burton Cummings Band will play the Prudential Main Stage Saturday night at the 2012 Summer in the City Festival in Steinbach.

Steinbach welcomes all of Southeastern Manitoba to join the fun of the 4th Annual Summer in the City Festival in Steinbach, June 15-16, 2012. The first ever Summer in the City Festival was hosted in June 2009 – the huge highlight was Tom Cochrane closing the show on Saturday night. In 2010 a midway was added, a Friday country night in partnership with the Steinbach Fire Association and fireworks to wrap up the concert on Saturday! This year, expect dozens of food vendors, artists and crafters to line Main Street… opening for business on Friday at noon. The entertainment hits the big stage Friday following the opening ceremonies at noon. Entertainment is free Friday and Saturday until 5pm. The Steinbach Chamber of Commerce and businesses throughout Steinbach welcome you to come shop and save during Sales in the City, Thursday through Saturday. There will be multicultural performers and food, entertainment for the children including the Wonder Shows midway and of course, thousands of your closest friends – and some you haven’t met.
