On May 1, 2012, at about 10:40pm, Parkland RCMP, along with the local Fire Department and EMS, responded to a pedestrian hit and run motor vehicle collision on Highway 5, 1 km northwest of Grandview.

RCMP report that passers-by, noticed the victim on the highway, provided aid and called 911. Police say that it was raining and dark at the time of the collision.

A 22-year-old male from the Valley River FN was found at the scene by emergency personnel. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy is being scheduled in the coming days.
