At about 6:30am on May 12, 2012, Swan River RCMP, Parkland EMS and Benito Fire Department responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 83.
RCMP report that a Chevrolet Aveo was traveling westbound on Highway 83, approximately 2 miles north of Benito, when the vehicle lost control and rolled. The car came to a stop on the south shoulder of the highway.
The passenger, a 48-year-old Swan River man, died in the incident. The 40-year-old female driver, also from Swan River, was critically injured and life flighted. Three other adult passengers were treated for minor injuries and are under hospital observation.
The Swan River RCMP investigation continues with the assistance of the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), RCMP Traffic Analyst and the Medical Examiners Office.
Police say that road and weather conditions were good at the time of the incident and that alcohol is believed to be a factor.
