The Manitoba RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit is one of the several policing partners across Canada participating in Project Salvo.

This national operation, coordinated by the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre, aimed to identify individuals using the Internet to distribute child sexual abuse images and who are believed to be a high risk to children.

In Manitoba, the RCMP ICE Unit investigation lead RCMP members to a residence in a rural Northeast Manitoba Community near Winnipeg. A search warrant was executed this week following an investigation in which child pornographic material was being made available online. As a result, a computer was seized from a residence. The computer’s hard drive contained child pornography images.

An adult male was arrested, interviewed and released unconditionally. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and no charges have been laid at this point in time.

The investigation continues.
