On March 26, 2009 at about 6:50 am., Selkirk RCMP were informed of a two vehicle collision on Highway 9 near the junction of Liss Road, in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews.
Investigation revealed that a 2002 Ford F150 pick-up truck was north bound on Highway 9 when a south bound 2003 Chevrolet S10 pick-up truck lost control and slid sideways into the north bound lane. The north bound pick-up truck, driven by a 37 year old male from the RM of West St. Paul, collided with drivers side of the south bound pick-up truck.
The driver and lone occupant of the south bound pick-up truck, a 25 year old male from the RM of St. Andrews, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the north bound pick-up was transported to the hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.
The name of the deceased is not being released at the request of the family.
Alcohol is not considered a factor. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Poor visibility and extreme weather conditions are considered contributing factors.
No additional information is available at this time. The investigation continues.
