On May 27, 2012, just after 6pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP and Portage la Prairie Police Dog Service executed a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage la Prairie.
A small amount of marijuana and cocaine were located and seized from the residence. Police also located and seized a number of firearms and edged weapons.
Charged with 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, 5 counts of unsafe storage of a firearm as well as 10 charges of failing to comply with an undertaking is 24-year-old Todd St. Goddard of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. St. Goddard is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on June 4, 2012.
Police continue to investigate.
Drug use and drug trafficking not only affects individuals, it affects families, friends and communities as a whole. The economic impact if drug trafficking and drug use is very high. There is also a great impact to the Justice System as well as the Health Care System. Drugs impact all areas of society.
