Fisher Branch RCMP officers have recovered a stolen 2009 Case IH Steiger 485 tractor that was reported missing back in December 2010.
Back on December 21, 2010, Stonewall RCMP received a report from a business in the RM of Rosser that a 2009 Case IH Steiger 485 tractor had been stolen overnight. Investigators at the time found that entry was made onto the property where the tractor was driven and loaded onto a trailer. Police say that the value of the tractor was about $300,000.
A Crime Stoppers tip and subsequent investigation lead Fisher Branch RCMP officers to a property in the RM of Fisher south west of the Town of Fisher Branch. A search warrant was obtained on May 31, 2012, and executed over the next couple days where the stolen tractor was located.
RCMP hired an excavator to dig the 2009 Case IH Steiger 485 tractor which was found buried underneath a 12-15 foot manure pile on the property.
A 24-year-old man of the RM of Fisher has been arrested and released on a promise to appear in Peguis Provincial Court on July 24, 2012, for theft over $5,000, possession of goods obtained by crime and false pretences. Formal charges are pending. A 22-year-old female, also of the RM of Fisher, was arrested and released on a promise to appear in Peguis Court on August 28, 2012, for possession of stolen property.
The investigation continues assisted by the RCMP “D” Division Auto Theft Section.
