A Winnipeg man is facing drug trafficking charges after police seized a quantity of marijuana during a Highway Traffic Act offence investigation this past weekend near Haywood, Manitoba.
RCMP report that while on patrol, just after 6:30pm on June 10, 2012, Treherne members observed a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder on Highway 2, near Haywood, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped while police were investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the lone occupant in the vehicle was in possession of 2 pounds of marijuana and 7 ounces of Hash which have a combined value of approximately $11,000.
54-year-old Haile King from Winnipeg was arrested and charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. v has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on August 13, 2012.
Police continue to investigate.
