On June 18, 2012, at approximately 4am, Lynn Lake RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to a fire at the Anglican Church in Lynn Lake, Manitoba.
Upon arrival, police and the local volunteer Fire Department found the Church fully engulfed in flames. The structure could not be saved and damages are estimated to be over $200,000.
Investigation has revealed the fire to be an arson.
Lynn Lake RCMP were also dispatched to several other small fires around the community around the same time. These fires caused minimal damage to the structures and have been determined to be arson as well.
Currently, the Lynn Lake RCMP with assistance of the Thompson Major Crime Unit are investigating these fires.

Lynn Lake RCMP have arrested and charged 20-year-old Lynn Lake resident Ivan Robin Ballantyne-Sewap with arson, as well as break enter, and committing arson. Ballantyne-Sewap remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Thompson Provincial Court.
Police continue to investigate.
