A Sandy Bay man is facing numerous weapons and drug related charges after being arrested by police this past week.
On June 16, 2012, just after 12pm, Amaranth RCMP executed two search warrants at a residence in the 300 block of Townsite Bay in Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.
Portage la Prairie RCMP and Police Dog Section, the Integrated Gang Intelligence Unit, RCMP Emergency Response Team and RCMP Containment Team assisted in the search.
As a result of the search, 30 long guns were seized, one of which was confirmed to have been stolen from the Dauphin area, as well as ammunition and a number of prohibited weapons. In addition, approximately 10.5 ounces of marijuana, 9 grams of cocaine and 287 tablets of codeine were located.
29-year-old James Clifford Roulette of Sandy Bay First Nation, was arrested and has been charged with:
• Three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Eight counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm
• Three counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
• Two counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• One count of Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime.
RCMP report that Roulette was remanded in custody and appeared in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on June 18, 2012. Charges are pending against a 31-year-old female.
Police continue to investigate.
