On July 17, 2012, Island Lake RCMP were advised of an injured child in the community of Red Sucker Lake First Nation.
Investigation revealed that a 4-year-old boy had been playing in a residence and had come in contact with a flammable substance. The substance ignited and the child suffered serious burns.
RCMP report that the boy was transported to hospital in Winnipeg where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Island Lake RCMP as well as the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner attended to conduct an investigation. An autopsy has been competed, and foul play is not suspected.
