On August 5, 2012, at about 8:45am, Stonewall and Headingley RCMP Detachments, along with the Winnipeg Police Service, responded to a two vehicle collision.
RCMP report that the collision occurred about 1/2 mile south of Inkster Boulevard in the RM of Rosser and involved an older model RV and a southbound SUV on Sturgeon Road. Currently for undetermined reasons, investigation shows that the SUV, a Mazda Tribute, crossed the center line and collided head-on with the RV.
Police say that the RV driver, a 65-year-old Winnipeg man, became trapped in the wreck. Fortunately, two passers by were able to free him as the RV had caught fire.
The female driver of the SUV, a 24-year-old woman from Winnipeg, has been taken to hospital in stable condition. Two passengers, a woman and a child, along with the driver of the RV were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The RCMP Headingley with the assistance of an RCMP Traffic Analyst continue to investigate.
