On August 5, 2012, at about 6:30am, the Gimli RCMP Detachment, local area Fire and EMS were dispatched to a residential fire on Prospect Street in Winnipeg Beach.
RCMP learned at the scene that three people were in the residence but only one was able to escape the fire.
Police say that the 18-year-old male resident who escaped the fire was taken to a Winnipeg hospital in stable condition.
Two individuals are confirmed deceased in the residence. While their identity is strongly suspected, it has yet to be confirmed until an autopsy is conducted in Winnipeg.
The Gimli RCMP Detachment and the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commission are investigating. Damage estimated are not known right now, however, the residence is a total loss.
