A Turtle Mountain woman and her two children died yesterday morning after their vehicle collided head-on with a truck near Manitou, Manitoba.
On August 10, 2012, at about 7am, Manitou RCMP and EMS were dispatched to a collision on Highway 3 about 4 miles west from Manitou involving a Dodge Caravan and a truck.
Police say that the truck was traveling west, when it appeared that the Dodge Caravan drifted into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the truck resulting in the vehicle catching on fire. The Caravan was driven by 22-year-old woman.
RCMP report that the woman and her two children, a daughter, one year of age, and a 5-year-old son, who were passengers of the Dodge Caravan, perished in the collision. The woman was from the RM of Turtle Mountain. The 31-year-old truck driver was taken to Boundary Trails Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
An RCMP Traffic Analyst was on scene assisting with the investigation.
