Police are investigating both alcohol and excessive speed as factors in a recent vehicle rollover that occurred in the RM of Whitehead.
On August 21, 2012, at approximately 4:50pm, Brandon, Souris and Carberry RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover on Provincial road 459, in the RM of Whitehead, near the number 1 highway.
It was reported that a westbound 2005 Chevrolet Blazer lost control and rolled into the south ditch. The driver and passenger of the Blazer were able to vacate the vehicle before it caught on fire.
Police say that the driver, a 20-year-old male from Brandon, as well as a 21-year-old male passenger from the Westman area, were transported to hospital where they were treated and later released.
The crash remains under investigation with assistance from a RCMP traffic analyst. Alcohol and speed are being investigated as contributing factors.
