Around 4:30pm, on August 29, 2012, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP detachment responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on Main Street South in Dauphin.

Police say that the resident of the home had returned home and found an unwanted guest in the house. The suspect, who was known by the victim, had left prior to the officer’s arrival. Investigators learned the suspect was on an undertaking with a condition she not attend that residence.

In another incident, police were called to a fight in progress in a parking lot on Whitmore Avenue. The fight occurred on August 30, shortly after 12am. Officers attended and learned that a 36-year-old female had been assaulted by the same suspect from the earlier break-in. While on scene, officers observed the suspect running from the area. She was arrested without incident.

28-year old Carmen Sylvia Chartrand of Dauphin, has been charged with break and enter, assault causing bodily harm and four counts of breach of undertaking.

The victim of the assault was taken to hospital and treated for her injuries.

The investigations are continuing.
