Through Healthy Together Now, Southern Regional Health Authority is offering one to three year funding of up to $10,000 per year on partnership-based community-led projects that support healthy living.

Healthy Together Now is a community-led, regional health authority coordinated and government supported program that encourages organizations, government, public interest groups and concerned citizens to work together on community-led projects that promote chronic disease prevention. These projects must address one or a combination of the following purposes: healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco reduction, and/or mental health promotion. Healthy Together Now aims at increasing skills, knowledge and ability at the community level to carry out healthy living programs.

Communities are invited to submit a funding application for projects that:

• Address an important need identified, initiated and led by the community;
• Aim to improve the health and well-being of the local community;
• Target priority populations most at risk for chronic disease;
• Have support from various organizations or groups within the community to ensure ownership and commitment to the project;
• Promote long-lasting effects and benefits to community health.

By working together, individuals can create communities where the healthy choice is the easy choice.

There will be two opportunities to apply for this funding. Application deadlines will be October 1, 2012 and January 11, 2013. Communities can access the application package online or by calling the RHA Healthy Living Facilitator at 204-346-6692.
