A woman from the Morden are has died after her car was hit head-on by a pick-up truck near St. Annes Road yesterday morning.
On September 9, 2012, just before 4am, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal two vehicle collision on the South Perimeter Highway, about 1 mile east of St. Annes Road.
Initial investigation indicates a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling east in the westbound lanes against traffic when it collided head-on with a 2001 Buick Century that was traveling west.
Police say that the driver of the pick-up truck, a 49-year-old man from the RM of Richot was not injured. He is in police custody and charges are being determined. There were no other persons in the truck.
The driver of the Buick, a 21-year-old woman from the Morden area was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A 23-year-old male passenger was transported to hospital in critical condition.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the ongoing investigation. Alcohol is considered to be a factor in this collision.

The driver of the pick-up truck, 49-year-old David Delisle, of Grande Pointe, Manitoba, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, refusing to provide a breath sample and possession of a controlled substance.
Delisle is scheduled to make a first appearance today in Winnipeg Provincial Court.
