On September 16, 2012, at about 8pm, Selkirk RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a collision on Highway 59. The collision occurred in front of the South Beach Casino near the community of Scanterbury, Manitoba.
Initial investigation indicates a 2001 Ford pick-up truck pulling a boat was traveling south when it struck a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Malibu that was turning west in the intersection.
Police say that the driver of the pick-up, a 40-year-old man from Dugald, was taken into police custody and charges are still being determined. There were no other persons in the truck.
RCMP report that there had been multiple occupants in the Chevrolet with undetermined injuries. Alcohol is considered to be a factor in this collision.
An RCMP traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the ongoing investigation.
