On September 30, 2012, at about 1:50am, Blue Hills RCMP Detachment were dispatched with Fire and Ambulance to the intersection of Highway 1 and Provincial Road 270, about 5 miles west of Brandon.

RCMP report that just south of this intersection a silver Kia Sedona minivan was located about 150 metres from the intersection after rolling a couple of times. The 3 occupants were immediately treated and escorted to the hospital.

Police say that a 43-year-old Dauphin man had been ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A 34-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, both of Brandon, are still in serious but stable condition at the Brandon hospital.

An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst and officers of the Criminal Crash Investigation Team assisted the Blue Hills Detachment with this investigation. Alcohol, speed and intersection violations are believed to be factors in this collision.
