On October 2, 2012, at about 7am, Swan River RCMP and Fire Dept, along with Parkland EMS were dispatched to a call of a two vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 83 and PR 486, near Swan River.
Police say that it appears that a 2007 GMC Sierra pick-up truck, driven by a 74-year-old man from Swan River, was traveling south on Highway 83, when it collided head-on with a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Impala.
RCMP report that a 57-year-old man from Benito, Manitoba, had to be extricated from the Chevrolet Impala and subsequently transported via EMS to Swan Valley Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Swan River RCMP, a member of the Criminal Crash Investigation Team in consultation with an RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst are conducting a joint investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, however, distracted driving is being investigated.
