I would like to commend the bravery and dedication of the emergency personnel who responded to this week’s fires across southeastern Manitoba. Their professionalism helped ensure that this situation did not evolve into a catastrophe.
I would also like to commend local residents – many of whom demonstrated acts of selflessness to prevent the loss of life and further loss of property. Specifically, I want to congratulate Lothar Dueck of Vita. Mr. Dueck courageously drove through the flames to rescue a woman who was unable to escape her home. This act likely prevented a tragedy from taking place.
The commitment of our first responders and the heroic acts of local citizens are only a few of the things that make me proud to represent the people of Provencher. I want to reiterate my appreciation for all the efforts of those involved and I am confident that we will emerge from this as stronger and more resilient than ever before.
