On October 7, 2012, shortly before 2:30am, East St. Paul RCMP officers were dispatched to what was reported as a hit and run collision on Henderson Highway near the East St. Paul Curling Club.
Police say that a van was found at the location with extensive damage on one side. The driver of the van, a 22-year-old male from East St. Paul, was observed to be impaired, as well, a 33-year-old female was found bleeding and in urgent need of medical care.
RCMP report that the driver was medically examined on-scene by EMS and found to have suffered minor non-life threatening injuries. The 33-year-old female was conveyed to hospital with serious injuries which were considered non-life threatening.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken into police custody. He has since been released and will face charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, refusal to provide breath samples and driving with an invalid driver’s licence.
