Gimli and Arborg RCMP officers seized a quantity of liquor and drugs earlier this week while conducting a traffic stop near Riverton, Manitoba.
On October 9, 2012, just before 11am, RCMP from Gimli and Arborg Detachments conducted a traffic stop on Highway 8, a few miles north of Riverton, Manitoba. During the traffic stop, police located a quantity of liquor and drugs in a 2011 Ford pick-up truck.
As a result of the investigation, police seized about 5 grams of cocaine, approximately 12 ounces of marijuana, assorted bottles of liquor, as well as 960 cans of beer, 129 (750ml) bottles of rye whisky, and 24 (750ml) bottles of vodka.
RCMP report that a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both from Berens River, Manitoba, were arrested and are facing charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as charges under the Liquor Control Act for reselling liquor and transporting liquor for resale.
Police say that both individuals have been released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
