A man from the RM of Hanover is facing numerous drug related charges after being arrested by police this past weekend.
On October 28, 2012, as part of an ongoing investigation, Island Lake RCMP intercepted a male traveling on a commercial flight from Winnipeg to Red Sucker Lake FN carrying controlled substances and prescription drugs.
Two members of the Island Lake RCMP Detachment arrested the male as he was exiting the plane. The suspect was found to be in possession of 128 Grams of marijuana and over 300 prescription pills as well as drug distribution paraphernalia.
Police say that the street value of the drugs is estimated to be over $3,000.
RCMP report that Dion Friesen, a 41-year-old male from the RM of Hanover, has been arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Friesen is remanded to appear in court in Winnipeg.
This seizure could not have taken place without the continued cooperation between the RCMP and the Red Sucker Lake First Nation Community working together in support of safer homes and communities.
