On October 27, 2012, just before 8:30pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of an armed robbery near Spirit Lodge on Yellowquill Trail West in Long Plain FN, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that on the same date at approximately 7:30pm, while walking home from Spirit Lodge, a 14-year-old male was approached by two male youths brandishing weapons. One had an edged weapon and the other had bear mace. The suspects threatened to kill the victim and members of his family and demanded the victim give them his gold chain he was wearing. The victim gave the suspects his gold chain and the suspects fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
A short while later, police located one suspect, a 15-year-old male of Long Plain FN, at his residence. He was arrested for robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of uttering threats to kill and resisting arrest.
A warrant of arrest has been issued for the second suspect, a 14-year-old male from Long Plain FN. He will be facing charges of robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of uttering threats to kill.
Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
