Around 1am on November 4, 2012, officers from the Dauphin RCMP detachment responded to a complaint of a theft from a vehicle that was parked on 8th Avenue N.E, Dauphin, Manitoba. Approximately 15 minutes later, officers received a report of a residential break and enter that had just occurred on Vermillion Place, approximately 7 blocks away. The homeowner had scared the suspect off after finding him in the house.
Based on the description given, investigators believed the same person was responsible for each incident.
Police say that approximately one hour later, a suspect was located walking near Main Street and was arrested. Property from the Vermillion Place home was found on his person when he was searched.
25-year-old Darren Lee Demeria of Dauphin, has been charged with break, enter and theft and breach of probation and has been remanded in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
