On November 2, 2012, Corey Scott Tymchyshyn was arrested by RCMP investigators in response to information received by the Steinbach RCMP.
On November 2, 2012 at about 5:30am, RCMP investigators arrested 36–year-old Corey Scott Tymchyshyn without incident at a residence in Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba. The arrest was in response to information received by the Steinbach RCMP and subsequent investigation.
On the same date, just after 6am, RCMP investigators executed a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) search warrant at a residence on Manitoba Avenue in the City of Winnipeg. During the search, RCMP discovered a marijuana grow operation of approximately 80 plants.
As a result of this ongoing investigation, Tymchyshyn has been charged with extortion, three counts of uttering threats, two counts of assault, five counts of breach of recognizance, possession of a controlled substance, production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Tymchyshyn remains in custody.
Police say that Corey Scott Tymchyshyn had been previously charged with 1st Degree Murder into the death of Chad Davis and was free on bail at the time of the offences.
The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the RCMP D Division Major Crimes Services, RCMP Drug Section, and Steinbach RCMP General Investigation Section with assistance from the D Division Emergency Response Team and RCMP Forensic Identification Unit.
Police continue to investigate.
