On November 6, 2012, at about 2:30pm, Peguis RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a snowmobile fatality on Peguis First Nation.
Investigation indicates that a 52-year-old Peguis resident had been operating a snowmobile at a high rate of speed when it was driven into some trees. This is believed to have occurred at about 1:30am on November 6. Police say that the operator was ejected and later located at the scene deceased at about 2:30pm.
Witness statements indicate that alcohol was a contributing factor. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and there were no other persons involved.
Police continue to investigate.
