On November 18, 2012, shortly after 10am, a 911 call was received from a passenger on board an aircraft advising of a plane crash near Snow Lake. The plane, a Cessna 208 Caravan, reportedly had several passengers on board that were seriously injured.
RCMP along with several EMS, Fire responded to the scene, about 6 miles east of the Town of Snow Lake and one mile from the Snow Lake Airport.
Police say that there was a total of eight people on board the aircraft at the time of the crash, a pilot and seven passengers. The pilot, a 40-year-old man resident of Snow Lake, was found deceased. The remaining seven passengers, all males, were injured in the crash. The injured passengers were extricated from the aircraft and are getting medical attention. Those injured were immediately transported to the Snow Lake Health Centre for care.
The Transportation Safety Board along with Workplace Safety and Health have been contacted and will be attending Snow Lake.
