A 17-year-old Rosser teen and a 33-year-old Stonewall man have been arrested by RCMP in connection to several recent break-ins.
Between November 3 and 19, 2012, RCMP Detachments in Stonewall, Teulon, Selkirk and Lac du Bonnet responded to a total of five business break-ins and one residential break-in in their respective areas.
Police say items stolen in these break-ins included liquor, food, two laptops and extensive damages to properties.
Through investigation and evidence compiled including video footage at businesses, two suspects were identified as a 17-year-old male resident of the RM of Rosser and 33-year-old Kevin Imrie of Stonewall. Video surveillance at some of the businesses also identified the suspect vehicle as a pick-up truck.
On November 14, 15 and 19, attempts to stop the pick-up truck driven by one of the suspects resulted in three police pursuits ending with the suspects getting away.
RCMP obtained a warrant for arrest for both suspects and sought the assistance of the Manitoba Integrated Warrant Apprehension Unit comprised of officers from the RCMP and the Winnipeg Police Service.
On November 22, based on information and investigative efforts the Manitoba Integrated Warrant Apprehension Unit assisted by the Winnipeg Police Street Crime Unit, officers spotted the vehicle at a residence on Road 8E in the RM of Rosser at which time both suspects were arrested on-site. The WPS Tactical Support Team was also on hand to assist if required.
RCMP report both suspects were observed with property belonging to the homeowner while walking towards the pick-up truck.
The suspects were taken into custody by the Integrated Warrant Apprehension Unit and escorted to the Stonewall RCMP Detachment. Both have been remanded into custody to appear in court on November 26. The suspects respectively face seven counts of break and enter, seven counts of mischief and three counts of flight from police.
