A Portage la Prairie man is facing numerous charges, including kidnapping, after being arrested by police this past weekend.
On November 16, 2012 just after 5pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a complaint that a 14-year-old male had been forcibly taken from his residence and assaulted. On November 24, 2012, just after 7:00am, a Criminal Code Search Warrant and Arrest Warrant were executed at a residence in the 600 block of Spruce Bay in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Members of Portage la Prairie RCMP, Portage la Prairie General Investigation Section, RCMP Police Dog Section, Portage la Prairie Traffic Services, Treherne RCMP, Amaranth RCMP, D Division Emergency Response Team, D Division Integrated Gang Intelligence Unit and West District Containment Team were involved in executing the warrants.
RCMP report that on November 24, 51-year-old Isadore Vermette of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba was arrested without incident. Vermette has been charged with break and enter, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, assault and 2 counts of uttering Threats. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on December 19, 2012.
Police continue to investigate.
