Manitobans can find tips for sustainable living that also save money in the 2013 EcoCalendar, now being distributed at no charge across the province. This announcement was made by Conservation and Water Stewardship Minister Gord Mackintosh.
“By taking the time to do little things that make a difference, we can make big changes in how our actions affect the environment,” said Mackintosh. “The popular EcoCalendar provides a wide range of tips to help Manitobans make choices for a cleaner, greener and healthier Manitoba.”
The minister noted the EcoCalendar supports TomorrowNow – Manitoba’s Green Plan, which sets out an eight-year strategic action plan for mobilizing Manitobans to work together to protect the environment, while ensuring a prosperous and environmentally conscious economy.
The 2013 EcoCalendar was produced in partnership with a wide range of organizations that share the vision to make Manitoba one of the Earth’s most sustainable places to live, Mackintosh said. Distribution of the calendar throughout the province has been made possible with the help of private sponsors, corporate supporters and non-government organizations.
The calendar will be available starting today at a variety of outlets across the province including:
• Canada Safeway stores,
• Salisbury House restaurants,
• Manitoba Hydro regional offices, and
• most municipal and provincial government buildings.
Green Manitoba, a special operating agency of the Manitoba government, created the calendar. The agency works with public and private sector organizations to deliver waste reduction, climate change, water stewardship and sustainability education initiatives across the province.
