On November 30, 2012, at about 6:30pm, Steinbach RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 12 and PR 303 in the RM of La Broquerie.
Initial investigation indicates that a 2004 Dodge Caravan was eastbound on PR 303 when it collided with a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am that was travelling north on Highway 12. PR 303 is controlled by a stop sign at the intersection.
RCMP report that the driver of the van, a 48-year-old woman from St-Pierre-Jolys was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. There were no other occupants in the van. The driver of the Pontiac Grand Am, a 59-year-old man from the RM of Franklin, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The lone passenger, a 49-year-old woman from the RM of Franklin, was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Road conditions and visibility were reported to be good in the area at the time of the collision.
