A 2011 Ford F250 police truck, driven by a DOPS officer, suffered some extensive front end damage after colliding with a CN train this past weekend.
On December 2, 2012, shortly before 12pm, Shoal Lake RCMP, EMS and Fire were dispatched to a collision involving a vehicle and a train on Highway 21, south of the junction of Highway 24. A marked Dakota Ojibway Police Service vehicle was noted to have extensive front end damage.
RCMP learned that a 2011 Ford F250 police truck, driven by a DOPS officer, was transporting a 22-year-old male prisoner at the time of the collision and struck a slow moving CN train. Police say that both the driver and the prisoner were taken to the local area hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the collision continues. Fog and icy road conditions were reported at the time in the area.
