Just before midnight on December 5, 2012, Central Plains RCMP seized a quantity of marijuana while investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence.
Police on patrol observed a 2002 Dodge Durango on Yellowquill Trail in the RM of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped as police were investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the lone occupant in the vehicle was in possession of approximately 240 grams of marijuana, which has a value of approximately $3,600.
RCMP report that 26-year-old Michael Prieur of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking as well as two counts of breach of undertaking. Prieur has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court.
Police continue to investigate.
