On December 10, 2012, at about 10:30pm, Selkirk RCMP and Fire Department were dispatched to a fatal house fire on Taylor Avenue in the City of Selkirk, Manitoba.
Police say that A 51-year-old woman was located deceased in the residence. She was reported to be a resident of the home. An autopsy performed on December 11, attributes her death to smoke inhalation.
RCMP report that there were no other persons involved and that no other homes were damaged in this incident.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner report the cause of the fire to be accidental and the damage estimate to the home was $175,000. RCMP have learned that no smoke detectors were in the home.
