A Keeseekowenin First Nation has been arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder in connection with the death of another Keeseekowenin resident.
On January 4, 2013, shortly after 10:30pm, Yellowhead RCMP members were dispatched to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Keeseekowenin First Nation. Upon arrival, officers found a victim, identified as 34-year-old Terrel Stewart Shorting of Keeseekowenin First Nation, deceased.
RCMP report that 50-year-old Terris Ronald Mintuck of Keeseekowenin First Nation has been arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder. He will be appearing in Brandon Provincial Court. A post mortem is scheduled in Winnipeg.
Yellowhead RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP D Division Serious Crime Unit, Brandon RCMP Major Crime Unit, Dauphin RCMP Major Crime Unit and the RCMP Winnipeg Forensic Identification Section are investigating the murder.
