On January 9, 2013, at about 5:30pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to the scene of a vehicle going through the ice on the Red River near Selkirk, Manitoba.
Investigation indicates that a 50-year-old man from the RM of Brokenhead was operating a 2006 Dodge pick-up truck on the Red River when it went through the ice. The man was able to escape the truck without injury before it became submerged. There was no one else in the vehicle.
RCMP remind motorists and persons using the ice for recreation that conditions can change from area to area and to be aware of hazards.
Police continue to investigate.
