On January 12, 2013, shortly before midnight, the Pukatawagan RCMP Detachment were dispatched to the scene of a single snowmobile collision in Pukatawagan.

RCMP learned that the sole rider and operator, identified as a 20-year-old Pukatawagan man, was transported to the local nursing station and airlifted to Winnipeg for further treatment. The rider was reported to be in critical condition at the time and on January 14, 2013, he succumbed to his injuries.

Early investigation shows that the rider was operating the snowmobile at excessive speeds on the roadway when he lost control and collided with the front stairs of a residence.

Police say that speed and lack of helmet are considered contributing factors in this incident.
