The Thompson RCMP would like to alert snowmobilers to stay clear of the open water near the Miles Heart Bridge, on the Burntwood River.
Police say that the ice downstream of the log boom is not safe. Recent snowmobile tracks indicate that snowmobilers are traveling over open water in this area. Ice forming on rivers is more complex than in lakes, largely because of the effects of velocity and turbulence. The ice downstream of the log boom is not safe.
Please are urging snowmobilers to not travel on this section of the Burntwood River.
