RCMP are currently investigating an armed robbery incident that occurred in Portage la Prairie this past weekend.
On February 16, 2013, just before 7am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of an attempted armed robbery on the first block of 17th Street NW in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Portage la Prairie General Investigation Section and Portage la Prairie Police Dog Section assisted with the investigation.
Investigation revealed that on the same date, at approximately 6:30am, two males attended the residence banging on the door. When the door was opened by the homeowner, the suspects, who were wearing disguises over their faces, pushed their way into the home while brandishing weapons. One of the suspects had an edged weapon and the other had a baseball bat. The suspects assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.
Police say that the victim was treated in hospital for what as reported to be non life threatening injuries.
RCMP report that 18-year-old Toban James Roulette of Carman and 18-year-old Jagger James Beaulieu of Portage la Prairie have been arrested. Both Roulette and Beaulieu are facing numerous charges including robbery and assault with a weapon.
Roulette and Beaulieu have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court.
