On February 21, 2013, at about 10pm, Spruce Plains RCMP were dispatched to a domestic dispute at a residence in Rapid City.
RCMP officers arrived on scene and learned that a distraught man was in the residence and a woman had been assaulted. Police say that there was also the potential of firearms in the residence.
RCMP report that the victim, who had left the residence, was transported to the Minnedosa Hospital where she was treated and released.
Spruce Plains RCMP were assisted by several area officers and RCMP Support Units in the investigation. Due to the potential threat of firearms, the nearby school was closed and several area residents were evacuated to ensure public safety.
On February 22, at 10:30am, a 34-year-old man from Rapid City was arrested without incident. He will be charged with assault causing bodily harm.
RCMP continue to investigate potential firearms related offences.
