On March 4, 2013, just before 8am, St-Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision close to the railroad tracks in Carey, near St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba.
Investigation indicates that a Red River School Division school bus, traveling east on PR 205, was stopped at the railroad tracks when it was hit from behind by a 2007 Dodge Ram truck driven by a 31-year-old RM of DeSalaberry man.
Police say that there were no passengers on the school bus at the time, due to school cancellation in the Division.
RCMP report that the bus suffered minor rear end damage. The Dodge truck was reported to have received extensive front end damage. There were no injuries to either driver.
Canadian Pacific Railway assisted with the investigation by restricting rail traffic temporarily to the area until the vehicles could be removed. Blowing snow, poor visibility and slippery road conditions are considered factors in the collision.
Charges are not pending at this time.
