On March 6, 2013, just after 9pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of an armed robbery in the City of Portage la Prairie.
Police attended the location and located the victim, a 22-year-old male cab driver from Portage la Prairie, suffering from a stab wound.
The man reported that he had been transporting two adult males in his taxi. The men had then stabbed him and stole his taxi. Police say that the driver was transported to hospital for treatment of what are reported to be non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP immediately began a search for the stolen taxi and located it near the junction of the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 13. A pursuit was initiated, but the suspects evaded police.
The stolen vehicle is described as 2006 Nissan Sentra, gray in colour, with a yellow “Classic Shuttle” emblem on the side and Manitoba licence plate number GMS 814.
