On March 6, 2013, shortly before 11pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault at a residence in Steinbach.
RCMP report that the female complainant was assaulted by her ex-common-law boyfriend. Early reports advised the male was intoxicated and had left the residence, however, while responding to the call, the male broke back into the residence through a bedroom window to continue the assault.
Police responded and the male suspect had barricaded the doorway to prevent police from entering. Police breached the doorway and arrested the man without any further incident. There were no serious injuries in this incident.
An adult male from the Steinbach area is facing charges of assault, forcible confinement and obstruction. He was later released from custody and is set to appear in Steinbach Provincial Court.
