Steinbach MLA and PC Education Critic, Kelvin Goertzen, today received copies of letters sent to NDP Premier Greg Selinger expressing concern about Bill 18 from leaders in Winnipeg’s Jewish, Coptic, Sikh and Muslim community.

“I appreciate the faith leaders of these communities in Winnipeg expressing their concerns to me regarding Bill 18. I continue to hear from many Manitobans who do not believe that Bill 18 is a Bill that will reduce bullying. I will continue to work to get the NDP to change this very poorly drafted piece of legislation into something that will actually reduce bullying and that all Manitobans can support,” said Goertzen.

The letters were signed by the President of the Manitoba Sikh Cultural and Seniors Centre, Rabbi Altein of Chabad-Lubavich in Winnipeg, the President of the Manitoba Islamic Association and the Secretary of The Coptic Heritage Society of Manitoba.

As of yesterday, Goertzen says he has received 9,250 emails of concern about Bill 18.
