A former Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Churchill, is facing numerous fraud related charges after being arrested by police on March 19, 2013.

In November, 2012, Churchill RCMP received a report of suspected financial discrepancies resulting in the Town of Churchill being defrauded in excess of $140,000. An investigation was launched by the Churchill RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP ā€œDā€ Division Financial Integrity Unit.

RCMP report that the evidence gathered over the course of the investigation suggests that between August and September 2012, the Town of Churchill was the victim of two bogus invoices totalling financial losses in excess of $140,000.

On March 19, 2013, 44-year-old Albert William Meijering of the RM of Springfield, who was the former Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Churchill, was arrested by the RCMP Financial Integrity Unit.

Meijering is currently facing two counts of fraud Over $5,000, two counts of theft Over $5,000 and one count of breach of trust. He has been released on a recognizance with conditions and will be appearing in Churchill court on August 13, 2013.
