The Manitoba Parks Reservation Service will begin taking reservations online and by telephone for cabins, yurts and group-use areas only on Monday, March 25. This announcement was made by Conservation and Water Stewardship Minister Gord Mackintosh announced. Details will be coming soon on general campsite reservations, which will begin Monday, April 1 at 7 a.m., the minister added.
“The opening day for cabins, yurts and group-use areas reservations has been moved from the first Monday in February to streamline operations, while still offering campers the opportunity to avoid the April rush,” said Mackintosh. “To further improve services, reservations will now start at 7 a.m. on opening day.”
Park users are encouraged to confirm their online user identification and passwords before March 22 for the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week online reservation service.
Call centre services will also be available at 7 a.m. on March 25 for cabins, yurts and group-use areas at 204-948-3333 (in Winnipeg) or 1-888-482-2267 (toll-free). On all other days, the call centre will open at 9 a.m. Over the last few years, call centre hours have been adjusted to be more efficient and will be in operation during peak demand periods.
Walk-in reservations and in-person payment arrangements have moved to 200 Saulteaux Cres. in Winnipeg and will be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. including opening day.
The minister recently launched Building the Parks Province: Manitoba’s Parks Strategy, which will see more yurts, electrical campsites, play structures, Wi-Fi in campsites, better beaches, more modern washrooms and showers, and up to 10 new or expanded parks.
He noted the public is also invited to provide feedback on the new plan.
“This new strategy outlines how we can sustain our parks into the future, enhance the park experience and develop new services for active families while strengthening our environmental stewardship,” said Mackintosh. “I encourage all Manitobans to review the strategy and provide feedback to help us guide our investments in parks over the next eight years.”
