On March 26, 2013, shortly before 1am, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP and several local area Fire Departments responded to a fire at the Alonsa Hotel in Alonsa, Manitoba.
Upon arrival, thin smoke was observed from the structure. Police say that despite efforts to save the hotel, the building was completely destroyed in the blaze.
RCMP report that there were no guests in the rooms at the time of the fire. Those that were in the building, reportedly smelled smoke and evacuated the building.
No injuries have been reported to the RCMP.
The investigation into this incident continues with the assistance of the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner. The cause of the fire is unknown at the present time. Damage estimates are not available, however, the structure is considered a total loss.
